TecnoLamiera | Digital Talks: The Laser Welding

Federico Bonaldo, physicist in the Research & Innovation Department, was interviewed by TecnoLamiera to discuss the results achieved by the Solution Lab at Castellini SpA in collaboration with Civan Lasers, a manufacturer of laser sources.

“We started by welding 25 mm thick sheets in a single pass for naval applications in collaboration with Fincantieri. Today we’ve reached 50–60 mm in thickness, without complex joint preparation and with very few passes. The result is a significant increase in productivity: reduced cycle times; preliminary and post-processing steps virtually eliminated.”

Federico Bonaldo summarizes Castellini SpA’s objective: to continue pushing the limits of laser technology through experimentation, industrial collaborations, and scientific research.
